NetBSD 6.1 (and 6.0.2!) Released

 

The NetBSD Project is pleased to announce NetBSD 6.1, the first feature update of the NetBSD 6 release branch. It represents a selected subset of fixes deemed important for security or stability reasons, as well as new features and enhancements.

Simultaneously, the NetBSD Project is pleased to announce NetBSD 6.0.2, the second security/bugfix update of the NetBSD 6.0 release branch. It represents a selected subset of fixes deemed important for security or stability reasons, without new features.

Complete source and binaries for NetBSD 6.1 and 6.0.2 are available for download at many sites around the world. A list of download sites providing FTP, AnonCVS, SUP, and other services may be found at http://www.NetBSD.org/mirrors/.

Other News

FreeBSD Binary Packages Are Available Again

Six months have passed since the November security incident which brought the Project's binary package building capacity offline; we are pleased to announce that all services are now restored.

vBSDcon Website Is Up!

 

In April 2013, Verisign announced the inaugural biennial vBSDcon event in Dulles, VA to occur October 25 – 27, 2013. In the weeks since the initial announcement, the vBSDcon website has been activated with details on the dates and location of the event. The website is available at http://www.vbsdcon.com/.

Some details have yet to be published, but will be available on the official vBSDcon website in the coming weeks. Please check back periodically for new updates!

DragonFlyBSD DPorts updates

New builds of dports have been uploaded and updated, for x86_64 and i386.  (x86_64 was already done; I linked the note about i386)  This means you can change PACKAGESITE in /usr/local/etc/pkg.conf to point at LATEST instead of RELEASE and get newer packages.  ’pkg upgrade’ is all it takes, with dports.
